So happy that the sun is shining for beautiful Renee and Ben today on their special day. Renee studied midwifery with me and then I was lucky enough to have her as my midwifery partner for a number of years before she sailed away with Ben on their yacht. They are truly one of theContinue reading “Beautiful day for a wedding”

Closing Te Puke Clinic
I’m very sad to say that we are closing our Womb Te Puke clinic in April. This is due to a lack of funding for clinic spaces for community midwives. Most midwifwery clinics in Tauranga are closing due to a change in funding which is very sad for the communities, and especially for rural women.Continue reading “Closing Te Puke Clinic”
New clinic room in Papamoa
Iām pleased to announce that I am working with our team from a new clinic room at 130 Parton Road, inside the Re-Energise Physiotherapy rooms. Lisa and I work out of there mostly and we also have access to Te Puke Plunket rooms. Our team are myself, Michelle Robinson, Lisa Kennedy and Tanya Mills. IContinue reading “New clinic room in Papamoa”
Traffic lights
We’re currently under the RED traffic light system for Covid 19. This means I will continue appointments with the majority over the phone and a minimal but tailored physical aspect. Omicron is currently in Tauranga and this way I am keeping my clients safe. If you haven’t had your vaccine please consider having it, weContinue reading “Traffic lights”
Wop wops duck
Out for a long Postnatal visit list day yesterday with my fabulous midwifery student Philippa and we almost squashed this duck twice. Apparently the white pompom on their head is a birth defect and causes neurological problems. This duck didn’t know where it was let me tell ya!.. You learn all sorts on this job.Continue reading “Wop wops duck”
Thank you (:
Beautiful flowers today from a mumma who had a stressful pregnancy. I tried to be her calm place when she needed one. That’s exactly the feedback she gave me, that I was calm which is what she needed. Mission accomplished šš„°
The Untried Penis
The article below is hilarious but it does put birth at home for first time mummas into perspective. A midwives job is not necessarily to massage your back, be constantly at your side for every contraction and always hold your hand, as well as that if you need it our job is to look atContinue reading “The Untried Penis”
Buy, Sell, Swap
It’s been a strange old day. I worked 16 hours yesterday, was at a birth, sorted out urgent situations and referrals for women as well as regular antenatal appointments. I went to work as usual today and saw some amazing mommas, booked in lots of women who were coming back to me for second babiesContinue reading “Buy, Sell, Swap”
Pregnant women and Covid19
We are so fortunate here in New Zealand that COVID-19 has not had the impact on us that it is having on the rest of the world. We are lucky that our pregnant women are not exposed to COVID-19 in the community. A recent research article showed that women who contracted COVID-19 were five timesContinue reading “Pregnant women and Covid19”
Residents only!
At the start of the lockdown there was great fear over what would happen and what our communities could do to stay safe. As I am an essential worker I continued to work and travel to visit mums and babies. Not once was I ever stopped by a police car to be asked where IContinue reading “Residents only!”
